Handmade Label

I bought 6 mm wide satin ribbon and embroidery the word using normal sewing thread.
Actually, I was thinking to buy custom order label. However, I found the price is too pricey for me. Also, the idea of attaching something machine made on handmade item is a bit ironic.

Then I sew it on the hem:

It only took me less than 30 minutes. I think to spare 30 minutes to do this on handmade clothes that need more than 1 month to make is worth it, don’t you think?

Very neat Lily! I'd try that too sometime, it'll probably take me more than 30 mins ;)

I love the label! I don't embroider, though, (at least not well) so it would probably take me a lot longer. I need to get labels for the things I sell, but I'm put off by the price, too. I love the look of handmade so much more, though.

Love the handmade label Lily! I too am not fond of machine made tags on handmadeitems. As you said, something that takes time, love and effort deserves a tag of equal value. Way to go!

Your label looks adorable. I think it really adds something to a finished piece to have a handmade label.

Yes, it is great to handmake own label. I also have search the retailing of making the label, it is very expensive.

Hi hon,

I just thought of something else you could do to make hand made labels. Prepare a stencil of the name you want on the label. Use the ribbon and fabric paint to stencil the name on the ribbon. I guess this would take maybe 10 - 15 minutes and the stencil can be reusable. I owe this one to you. I make a lot of crochet items myself and I looked at the labeling option too which I found expensive. After reading this post, this idea popped into my mind.

I can't believe your work~! And you've solved my label problem. I had been thinking along your lines but didn't know if it would work...so now, I know it will! Thanks!

I love this! I agree on the 30 minutes for a handmade label for a project that takes more than a month to complete! You've inspired me! Now I just have to dig deep to find the embroidery talent I have from earning my sewing girl scout patch, ah, er... quite a few years ago.
