Smocking Dress

Today I want to show you some of Lauri’s new dresses that she got this year. Most of Lauri’s dresses are smocking dresses with embroidery on it. Nope, it’s not me who made these. I haven’t tried my hand on smocking yet, although I understand the concept. Too bad that these lovelies only wearable for 1 or 2 years for each girl (once they are too small for Lauri, then I will keep them for a while before hand down to Fiori). After that I am thinking to chop them up and make them into a patchwork blanket or something since all these made of cotton material.

Calendar

Recently, I bought some fabrics online. I plan to make some pillow cases and curtains. That is why when I received package from US, I thought it was my order arrived. Turn out it was my Knitting calendar. I didn’t buy it. However, since I got my Lauri Dress pattern accepted into their 2010 calendar, I got one copy of the calendar for free. This is my first time to get this calendar ever. Honestly, I really haven’t got the time to really look into the patterns one by one, so I could not tell you which one is my favorite (beside Lauri Dress, off course).

Then a month later, I got the check worth of USD 350,- for my second winner prize (not USD 250,- as I mentioned earlier). I immediately bank in the check and totally forgot to take the picture. So, I guess you have to satisfy with the photo of the envelope.

Knitting Pattern-A-Day Calendar

About a year ago, Susan Ripley contacted me and asking me whether I wanted to submit any of my patterns to Knitting and Crochet Pattern-A-Day Calendar. Since I can submit my existing pattern and still selling it in my website, I thought “why not”. So, I submitted my Lauri Dress knitting pattern for 2010 calendar. I forgot all about this until yesterday night I received notification email saying that I won the second prize winner! True enough, when I went to their website, I saw this:

As a second winner, I am about to get USD 250,- check from them. I can’t wait to get the check and the free calendar. If you order the Knitting Pattern-A-Day Calendar, don’t forget to check my Lauri Knitting Pattern on 15 March page.

FO: Lauri Dress

Remember about Lauri Dress? Finally I managed to take photo with Lauri as a model. I got a very good model. She was happy to model it for me. The pattern is also ready for sale. I will put it up for sale in the next post.

Actually Elann Sonata is a DK weight yarn, however, I felt that DK is too thick to my climate. The yarn is 4 ply, I remove 1 ply and make it only 3 ply to make it sport weight. The result is just nice.

I made the pocket apple shape, because I felt that just plain square pocket is boring. I am happy with the result as it really made this dress very cute. I also made the sleeves a bit ruffled by increasing in the shoulder. I made this dress a bit bigger so she can wear it longer. Too bad that I only have 5 balls of yarn, because I think I need another ball to make it longer.

Lauri Knit Dress

I got this Elann Sonata yellow color. But it’s only 5 balls. I don’t think it’s enough to make something for me. Thus I decided to make a dress for Lauri. Just a simple dress with 2 pockets for the details.

What do you think? Anybody interested to test the pattern? I haven’t finished write it yet. Probably next week.
